It’s Saturday night in Screven County. The crowd at Screven Motor Speedway watches as the Moonrunners slide into turn number one to start twenty laps of hard racing. Leading the pack is the #55 red Camaro driven by Ricky McClain Jr. As each lap further separates the men from the boys, Ricky pulls past the lap cars with the #3 car sticking on him like a magnet waiting for the opportunity to take the lead, but this is one lead that Ricky has no intention of letting go.
I grew up on the Savannah River, hunting and fishing along its banks. I still get excited when I am planning a fishing trip on the water where fishing can be tricky but very rewarding. Often my fishing trips revolve around catching redbreast, which in my opinion is the best freshwater fish to eat.
The redbreast is a freshwater fish in the sunfish family. Redbreasts are also referred to as a robin, yellowbelly, redbelly or bream.
Well-l-l-l doggy, the season has gotten off with a real bang and may have cracked the very foundation of a fishing foursome! My best fishing buddy has informed me that she’d never get back in a boat!

Thank goodness the spawn has finally for the most part come to an end. Bass patterns in the southeast are simpler to predict, and putting a limit in the live well is pretty much a given. For the most part you still have to work for them, and with food sources being abundant this time of the year, you may have to fish several different lures and techniques to produce numbers of fish.
