Newspapers / Pennysavers, ect.

When talking with area businesses about which advertising methods work best for them, the newspaper consistently gets mentioned as the lowest performer. On examination we believe these are the reasons. 1) When newspapers talk about circulation the assumption is that number represents how many people read the paper. In most cases that number represents all papers printed, even those that didn't sell and never got into the hands of a reader. 2) When you buy advertising in a single issue you're buying a single days worth of advertising. A newspaper by it's nature become irrelevant after the first read. 3) Your ad will only reach those interested in the section your ad falls in.

Unlike newspapers that people read only once then thrown away, SouthLand gets read again and again, passed around, and shared. As a result, your ad gets seen many times by many different people. SouthLand is available free of charge so people pick it up at restaurants, sports shops, gas stations, and area stores. We also distribute to waiting rooms so they get read by dozens of people waiting for the doctor, a haircut, ect.

Radio

The radio industry is one of those changing entities that is having to search for a way to stay relevant for listeners since new technology is changing the way people listen to music. Still, it remains a viable form of advertising for stations able to build a large audience. The disadvantage is that by nationally accepted averages a person only listens to a single station for 15 minutes during any given listening period, lessening a persons chance of hearing your ad.

Cable

Cable remains a strong form of advertising. The only disadvantages of cable are cost and reach. Though cable rates are reasonable, the cost of having the actual commercial created ranges typically from $300 - $1000. That's before your ad even runs the first time. Also, cable is limited to the area it covers which is most often the immediate in-town areas and just beyond. It does, however, deliver well in the areas it covers.
